Favorite Buttercream Cupcake Recipe

Ingredients:

*For the Cupcakes:*

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt



*For the Buttercream Frosting:*

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)
  • A pinch of salt



Instructions:


1. *Preheat the Oven:* Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.


2. *Make the Cupcake Batter:*

- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

- Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.


3. *Bake the Cupcakes:*

- Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.


4. *Prepare the Buttercream Frosting:*

- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well until combined. Add vanilla extract and beat until fluffy.

- If the frosting is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency.


5. *Frost the Cupcakes:*

- Once the cupcakes are completely cool, pipe or spread the buttercream frosting on top.
